Just before you dash off, please let me tell you a little bit about myself…
Back in my teenage years, I found a passion for innovative design that was borne out of the world around me: from the unmistakable towers of London Bridge to the eye-catching shape of a perfume bottle; or the fascinating modern works of art created by M.C. Escher to the classic icon of the Ferrari 246 Dino. All that excites and grabs your attention to make you think, does so with the inspired application of creative design to allow it to stand out from the crowd!
I fuelled this passion when I first started working as a junior for a design agency based in Soho, London – delivering artwork and collecting the designers’ sandwiches. I was fortunate that I was working with some of London’s best creative talent where I learned fast and soon became a designer myself. My career progressed over the coming years working for some of the West End’s most prestigious design agencies, where I built a very good reputation for my work and applied my skills to such high profile accounts as Martini, Ladbrooks, P&O, Thompson Holidays, Barclays Bank, Moet and Chandon and many more blue chip global brands. I was also responsible for creating the illustrations for Mr Men and designed the packaging for children’s toys, which was great fun!
During this time and as part of a team, we were responsible for creating a diverse range of work; from branding and packaging design to brochures and catalogues, national newspaper advertisements and London Underground advertising.
I was always intrigued to find out more about the various types of print processes, stock and finishing techniques, so naturally it made perfect sense to source employment in a printing company! Whilst it was an unusual career move, I later became a manager for PIP, America’s largest high street print franchise at their head office, where I also became a lithographic printer and learned the true meaning of customer service of which as a direct result, increased the profitability of the business.
After a few years, I moved on to become a partner and creative director of one of the UK’s largest independent advertising agencies. Eventually I took all my experience and channelled it into my own agency – Design Ingenuity and I’ve never looked back!
